Distribber now offers Closed Caption Services to all shorts and feature films. Closed Captions are the words displayed on a TV screen that give audiences visual information about the current film they are watching. This is similar to subtitles but is not meant for translation rather it is meant for the deaf or those with hearing problems. For example, if the camera is inside a house and someone knocks on the door, the closed captions would show (knocking) along with the text spoken by the talent.
The process for creating Closed Caption files at Distribber is quite simply.
Ingestion: We will require a low res video file with audio to ingest into our program. This may include a file upload to our server, or physical assets
Process: Once we have received your video files for ingestion, the process normally takes about 7-14 days unless you have been queued
File Type: Distribber exports in a .scc file type
Delivery: If your using Distribber for distribution then we will deliver your Closed Caption file directly to the platform. If you are only using Distribber to create the Closed Caption file, then we typically will send via email
Qaulity Control: If in a rare case our .scc file fails, we will be sure to fix the issue free of charge.
We are currently in the process to offer translation subtitles as well, be sure to subscribe to our newsletter on the home page to stay up to date!
If you are a client of Distribber's the price is $5.50 per minute with or without a script/transscript, if you're not a client the price is $6.00 per minute with or without a script/transcript. The industry standard is between $7-$10 per minute with a transcript. The $5.50 price has no minimum requirements, if the film is 10 minutes then the total will be $55 to receive the Closed Caption file. There is a $150 sync charge if your film is delivered to any of our platforms.
